RPTA Cornelius - Fall Program

2009 Fall Junior Program Information

Scott Tucker (Director of Cornelius Junior and Adult Programs) is the former director of the Sports Club of Greenville in Greenville, SC. Scott and his family have relocated to the Lake Norman area to run our lake programs. We are excited to have Scott's experience and leadership as part of the RPTA. For private or semi-private lessons, please contact Scott at 864-934-5069. The cost is $50 per hour or $30 per half hour. Dates and times are flexible.

Please note, for the following programs, no refunds will be given once the program has started. Class or session credit can be worked out on an individual basis. Weather or holiday-related make-up days will be on Fridays. For weather information, please contact the Cornelius Rain Out Hotline at 704-896-2460 ext. 300. Due to limited class size, students may only attend the days selected. Please remember that students are only permitted to come to class on alternate days if specific details are arranged with an instructor prior to class.

JUNIOR PROGRAMS

Fall Semester: August 24th - November 20th

Academy Group (Ages 10-18)

Cost: $350/month or $900/semester
Schedule: 3:30-6:30 pm, Monday through Thursday (Rain make-ups on Fridays)
Location: Jetton Park

This group will consist of players that often compete at the Southern or National level. Randy Pate will oversee this group with Scott Tucker. Players will need to verify acceptance for the program. This is the group to take your junior to the highest level. Typically juniors will have a state or sectional ranking (many with a national ranking). Juniors should come ready to train each day and will work on technique, point construction, fitness and match play. Randy Pate will be running this program on Tuesday and Thursday with Scott Tucker running the program on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Quick Start - Ages 4-10
Cost: $120/month or $200/2 months
Schedule: Monday - Thursday 3:30 - 4:15 pm OR Monday - Thursday 4:15 - 5:00 pm
Location: Jetton Park

This format allows juniors to be more successful PLAYING the game of tennis. We will utilize foam balls and a 36-foot court for 8 and under groups. We will utilize low compression balls and a 60-foot court for 10 and under groups. This format, along with the proper equipment, will get your junior playing tennis and will feed them into team and tournament play. The RPTA has been utilizing Quickstart with amazing results!

Weather or holiday related make-up days will be on Fridays. Due to limited class size, students may only attend the days selected. Please remember that students are only permitted to come to class on alternate days if specific details are arranged with an instructor prior to class.

Evening Clinic - Beginners

Jetton Park

Tuesdays: 6:30 - 7:30 pm

$15/session or $40/ 4 sessions

* All sessions must be completed during the season for which they were purchased. Any sessions not completed before the season ends will be forfeited.

Development Academy

Cost: $200/month
Schedule: Monday through Thursday 3:30 - 5:00 pm AND Monday through Thursday 5:00 - 6:30 pm (Friday rain make-up day)
Location: Jetton Park

This group is the Academy program for the player that is not quite to the elite tournament level. Players will drill and refine technique to advance to the National Academy level. Strategies (including directionals) will be covered on a daily basis along with match play. This is the group to get you ready for a high state, Southern or national level.
